What is art licensing and how does it work?
An art license grants you the temporary right to print my artwork on your products and sell them to your customers. Each licensing agreement will specify additional terms such as the duration of the license and exclusivity of use.
We will define the specifics of the licensing terms together depending on your needs and the availability of the artwork.
How much does art licensing cost and how does payment work?
The price you pay will depend on a variety of factors such as exclusivity, the number of units you plan to manufacture, and the retail price of your product.
You will be charged a flat-fee at the time you sign your agreement.
If you see a design in my portfolio that you're interested in licensing, please fill out the licensing inquiry form and I will provide you with a quote.
What is exclusivity?
Exclusivity limits the usage of the artwork you license by other companies. There are many aspects to exclusivity such as territory (where the products are sold and to whom), product (the type of product you sell the art on), time (how long your exclusivity lasts).
For example, if your contract states that you have exclusive use of the art for stationery products in the United States for a two year period, no one else will have the right to print the art on stationery sold in the United States at that time. However, another company may be able to sell that same art on wallpaper in the United States.
We will define the specifics of the licensing terms together depending on your needs and the availability of the artwork.
This is my first time licensing and I'm not sure what terms I need. How should I fill out your licensing inquiry form?
If there are questions in my licensing inquiry form that you are unsure about, no worries! Just fill out as much information as you can. Make a note in the form for the questions you're unsure about, and I'll be happy to work out the details with you.
Are the designs customizable? Am I able to make color changes?
My designs are all fully customizable vector files. After signing your licensing agreement, you will have access to the editable files to make any necessary changes. I'm happy to make color changes or any other small adjustments for you, free of charge.
Please note that if you'd like me to make any major changes for you, I may charge an additional design fee.
Do you offer custom work?
Absolutely! If your project requires something very specific or if you like my style but don't see what you need, send me an email at rachel@byrachelharrison.com. Please provide me with as much information about the project as you can (what type of art you're looking for, what products you sell, timeline, etc.) and I'll reach out to you to discuss further details and offer a quote.
